A stye or chalazion is annoying and painful. It is often caused by a weakened immune system on the eyelid. You can prevent this with a balanced diet. However, if the stye is already there, some home remedies can be effective.
Home remedies for styes
Fennel or chamomile tea
You can dab the stye with fennel or chamomile tea, which has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Zinc ointment
Diluted zinc ointment is also soothing.
Red light lamp
If you have a red light lamp available, you can shine it on the affected eye for a quarter of an hour 3 times a day.
Naturally cloudy apple cider vinegar
Apply naturally cloudy apple cider vinegar to a sterile cloth and dab the stye with it. However, extreme concentration is required here, as the vinegar should not get into the eyes.
Caution:You should never squeeze the stye. In addition, you should proceed with extreme hygiene when treating the stye and wash your hands before and after. If nothing helps, see a doctor and seek advice.
