Bruises and bumps often happen very quickly and not only look unsightly, but are often painful too. Here we have collected some household tips so that they disappear again very quickly:

First aid for bumps and bruises

Cold

For bruises and bumps, cold can be good in the first moment. Simply apply something cold to the affected area. Cool packs are very helpful here. If none are at hand, simply take a freezer bag with peas or put ice cubes in a towel and place it on the area. If none of these are available, a cold knife will also do; place it with the broad side on the affected area.

Onion

If you have bumped yourself and a bump is growing or a bruise is forming, cut an onion in half and place it on the area with the flat side (Attention: not on an open wound).

Cold vinegar compress

For a cold vinegar compress, take 2 tbsp of vinegar and add it to a glass of cold water. Soak a cloth in this mixture and apply it to the affected area.

Schnapps

Put high-proof schnapps half and half with cold water in a bowl and soak a cotton ball in it. Dab this onto the area repeatedly or tie it onto the area with a cloth.

Arnica

Mix a quarter liter of water with 2 tsp of arnica (health food store, pharmacy), moisten a cloth with it and place it on the injured area.
