Avoiding grease splatters on your cookbook

The worst thing for a hobby cook is probably stains on a beautiful, valuable cookbook from Mom or Grandma. Especially those books that contain the best and most delicious recipes are used most often at home. Whether from Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad, sister, brother, or spouse – everyone cooks their favorite recipe from the tried-and-tested book. Accordingly, most frequently used cookbooks in the household look the part. With stains and dirt from various dishes and crumpled pages, it is easy to tell what was cooked the day before.

Using a cookbook in the kitchen

Almost everyone who works in the kitchen knows the following situation: You are preparing a dough and are currently mixing one ingredient after another into the mixture. At the exact moment when your hands are covered in dough, the open page flips shut due to a small gust of wind. If you don't want to contaminate the entire book, you first have to wash and dry your hands, then flip the pages back and possibly secure them with a clothespin, and then the kneading starts all over again. An annoying but almost everyday situation when cooking.

Or just think about the fact that you are currently frying a piece of meat in the pan and have forgotten the next ingredient in the recipe. Since the cookbook should not be soiled, it is placed as far away from the stove as possible to protect it from greasy splatters while searing. By the time you have turned to the book and found the right place with the ingredient you are looking for, it can happen that something is already burning in the pan.

Home remedy: Cling film

Simply cut off a large piece of cling film and place it on the cookbook. This way, it is optimally protected from grease splatters. To ensure nothing slips, this film can be fixed with clothespins.

Grease splatters can be easily avoided with the acrylic cookbook holder. The beloved cookbook or cooking magazine is opened to the right page and placed in the holder. It doesn't matter how thick the book is, because the holder can be used for all standard book thicknesses.
