Children in nature

Children love to move, which is why there should always be an opportunity to let off steam at a children's party. One idea for an active game is the 'Ferryman game'.

Games for children's parties: Ferryman, take us across

A prerequisite for this is a larger space, such as a garden or park, and the more children, the more fun it is. Furthermore, markings on the ground at a distance of 15-20 meters are needed (for example using a rope) to be able to indicate the boundaries exactly.

One child is positioned as the ferryman opposite the other children. The children call out: 'Ferryman, take us across'. The ferryman replies with 'Come yourselves', to which the children in turn ask 'How?'. Now the ferryman calls out to the children how they are allowed to run over to him, for example: crawling on all fours, running backwards, hopping, running sideways, etc. Now the children must try to get to the ferryman's side using the specified type of movement. Only the ferryman (who must also move in the specified way) tries to catch the children. Whoever is caught stands with the ferryman in the next round and helps him catch others, making it increasingly difficult. The last child remaining gets to start as the ferryman in the next round.
