In many games at children's parties, the children have to give up a forfeit, such as hair clips, bracelets, shoes, a hat, or whatever the children happen to have with them. Towards the end of the children's party, the children naturally have to get their things back. This can, of course, be done in a fun game.
Games for children's parties: Redeeming forfeits
The items are put into a large box and someone is chosen to reach into the box. Now they choose an item blindly (the other children must not see which item they are holding) and ask any child: 'What should the person whose forfeit I am holding do?' The person asked can now come up with a task, and only then is the item taken out of the box and shown. The owner of the item must perform the task immediately.
Only fun and nice tasks should be chosen that are appropriate for the children's age. If the children cannot think of anything, you can also make a poster with suggestions and the children always have to choose one.
Here are a few examples of tasks:
- Imitate animal sounds (bark like a dog, crow like a rooster, etc.)
- sing a song
- recite a poem
- perform a dance
- tell a tall tale
- recite a poem with a candy in their mouth
- perform a pantomime
- hop across the room on one leg
- say something nice to the birthday child's mother (my favorite!)
- pick up a handkerchief – without using hands
- pick up a piece of tissue paper using a straw
- act as a commentator for a soccer match
The children can be very creative here and keep themselves well occupied. It is wonderful to see what the children come up with and how they solve it.
