Admittedly, the wisdom that every child should consume fruit and vegetables daily is not new, but a fruit plate quickly becomes boring for the little ones among us, and they are not always enthusiastic about vegetables either.
Finding a solution seems difficult when you want to ensure a balanced diet – but forcing it only achieves the opposite, and if a child does not want to eat something, they will not eat it, no matter what happens. It is nice to see our child developing their own character, but that does not solve the problem. How can you make fruit and vegetables tasty for your offspring?
Fruit and vegetables are important for children
If we are honest, even for us adults, a boring banana in the hand or apple slices on a plate do not look particularly attractive in the long run. After all, we eat with our eyes – this principle also applies to our offspring.
Arranging fruit and vegetables attractively
AvoidingApple can be prepared quite attractively: after peeling and removing the core, the apples are quartered and then a zigzag pattern is conjured up with a knife. This creates little crocodiles that stimulate the child's sense of touch and rekindle the desire to eat fruit. This method is also possible with cucumber sticks – this will definitely put a smile on the child's face at the dinner table.
The Banana is a very popular fruit among children – but if it gets boring, you can halve the banana lengthwise, hollow it out, and fill it with cookie crumbs, cherries, or other fruit. You quickly create a banana boat that makes children's eyes light up.
Even the evening slice of bread can be quickly spiced up. If the slice Sausage or Cheese is not well received because it lies boring and dull on the half of the bread, you can conjure up a mouth with a small halved gherkin, eyes with two cherry tomato halves, and a nose with a small carrot stick. There are no limits to the possibilities here.
Likewise, half an egg can serve as a boat. Provide the egg with half a pretzel stick; a cucumber slice serves as a sail, which is skillfully attached to the pretzel stick – done.
Perhaps you will find many other ways to get your child to enjoy fruit and vegetables again. The effort will definitely be worth it.
