To achieve an optimal bath temperature, a bath thermometer is essential. Sometimes, however, our intuition can be deceptive: the traditional method of checking the water temperature with your hand or elbow is not necessarily suitable for children. Babies and small children require a temperature of 37°C when bathing, which should ideally not be exceeded, as otherwise their small, delicate skin will suffer too much.

To prevent scalding or other accidents, the use of a bath thermometer is essential. Handling is simple and uncomplicated, and the correct temperature can be determined very easily by simply reading it. Particularly attractive bath thermometers are available in specialist shops for small children's hands, for example, depicting various animal figures or other shapes.
What should I look for when buying?
When buying a bath thermometer, make sure that it is primarily shatterproof and, above all, does not contain mercury. If the thermometer were to be damaged, the mercury could leak out and cause health problems.
Furthermore, the measuring scale of the bath thermometer should be very easy to read. Nowadays, most thermometers indicate a child-friendly bath, an adult bath, and a cold bath using dashed lines. Quite modern variants offer electric bath thermometers that indicate the optimal bath temperature with an acoustic signal. Here, too, the application is quite simple: the thermometer is placed in the bath water and, upon reaching the correct temperature, the signal tone is emitted. With these simple tricks, nothing stands in the way of a lovely bath with your baby.
