It can easily happen that you have forgotten the candle and the wax has dripped onto the tablecloth or furniture. Often it is not as bad as it looks at first. You can remove wax stains very gently with simple household remedies.
Remove wax stains
Removing wax stains from wooden furniture
If the wax is on wooden furniture, you should not simply scratch it off, as this will leave unsightly scratch marks on the wood or the glass table. You simply take a Hair dryer and carefully blow-dry the wax until it becomes soft. Then take a cloth and wipe it away. Afterwards, take a little Methylated spirits and polish the area.
Removing wax stains from upholstered furniture
On upholstered furniture or carpets the whole thing is a little more elaborate. You need Blotting paper and a iron. First, remove the wax by carefully scraping it off; for the rest that is stuck in the fibers, you now need your tool. The blotting paper is placed on the wax stain and then you iron over the blotting paper with the iron. The ironing makes the wax liquid and the blotting paper then absorbs it. This also works very well for wax stains on Clothing.
Remove wax from the tablecloth
Wax stains on the tablecloth can be fought with a blotting paper and an iron . Place a sheet of blotting paper on the affected areas and iron over it a few times with the iron (without steam and it should not be too hot!). The blotting paper now absorbs the heated wax residues and the tablecloth can be used again.
If there are still stains visible from colored candles, treat them with white spirit . If you don't have blotting paper, you can also use a towel or a kitchen towel.
