Parquet flooring - wood parquet

The Parquet flooring is very popular in most households. It looks beautiful and is actually easy to care for. Anyone who decides on a parquet floor should never lay it in the bathroom; it does not like wetness and humidity. It looks nice in the kitchen, but you must always wipe up spilled water immediately. But how do you clean parquet? Here are a few tips:

Cleaning parquet flooring

Cleaning a parquet floor is quite simple. First and foremost, you should never use aggressive cleaning agents. You can either buy expensive care products in the store or fall back on simple household remedies.

When cleaning, you must distinguish between sealed and unsealed parquet:

  • Avoidingsealed parquet floor can be made radiantly beautiful if you wipe it with cold black tea. This way it retains its beautiful color and shines wonderfully. Stubborn stains can be removed quite well with a little turpentine. However, the area should then be polished with the black tea, otherwise there will be a spot.
  • Avoidingunsealed parquet floor must be rubbed regularly with Hard wax and then polished. If it should get a stain, often only sanding it down helps. It therefore requires significantly more care.

Basically, you should only wipe the parquet floor with a damp, almost dry cloth and then rub it dry. With too much moisture, the wood swells and the floor becomes dull and wavy. You should also make sure to stick a piece of felt to tables and chairs and not wear spiked shoes. Otherwise, after some time, there will be unsightly scratches or dents in the wood; these usually cannot be removed either.

If nothing else helps and the floor has seen better days, the only thing to do is sand it down and refinish it. But a professional should handle that.

Remove hot grease from wooden floors immediately

Wooden floors are hard enough to clean as it is; it becomes especially difficult if hot grease has been spilled. If this should happen, immediately pour cold water on it and scrape off the congealed grease.

  1. I can unfortunately confirm the thing about parquet in the kitchen. I don't think I would do it again next time and would fall back on tiles instead.

I didn't know the tip with the black tea yet; it will definitely be tested during the next cleaning session ?
