More and more people are making a virtue of necessity and turning their garden into a holiday paradise. Although the economic crisis is reaching consumers much later than initially thought, there are now enough families who are holding their breath financially and can no longer afford an annual holiday trip. It is all the better if you have your own garden, which you can transform into a top-class holiday paradise to your heart's content.
While the utensils for garden design are generally anything but cheap, these investments are at least not as fleeting, and you can benefit from them twice or even three times over several summers in a row. If the holiday budget flows into your own garden, everyone benefits in the end. Depending on the size of the garden, it offers many different design elements, some of which are very easy to make yourself for little money; if you prove to be skilled at manual work, a landscape architect is often not even necessary.
Life in the garden with different design elements
Everyone loves variety coupled with relaxation in some way. Your own garden is specifically there for relaxing and not just for working. And life in the garden only becomes truly beautiful when you have created your own personal oasis that invites you to linger, relax, and perhaps even swim.
Design element: Water
You can wonderfully loosen up a garden with water. It doesn't have to be a large swimming pool, which also costs a lot of money. A small pond, a whirlpool, or a garden shower is enough. Especially in summer, a whirlpool (which is now available quite cheaply at hardware stores) or a garden shower can be wonderfully refreshing.
Design element: Lounge area
With comfortable garden armchairs and chairs, you can create a relaxed ambiance in the garden for parents and children. Large lounge chairs and/or especially plastic rattan furniture entice you to relax and sunbathe. Weatherproof garden furniture is shaded by sun sails or large parasols. This turns the garden into a second living room in summer.
Design element: Grill area
Grilling in the summer months in your own garden is very popular, and what could be better than sizzling delicious meat on the grill on mild summer evenings and eating it afterwards? A modern gas grill is just the thing. Or even a brick-built grill. You can grill everything, whether meat, fish, vegetables, or fruit. This is called outdoor cooking and completes life in the garden.
Design element: Scent
Everyone loves a good scent. Lavender, roses, or even various herbs spread a wonderful blanket of fragrance that makes life in the garden even more pleasant. Lavender is also said to keep insects away, so you don't have to worry about annoying mosquito bites in the evening.
And even if your garden doesn't offer enough space to accommodate all the design elements, there is room in every garden for a small oasis of calm to relax and recharge your batteries – and so you have at least created a small paradise for a holiday.
Enjoying your private oasis unobserved
Anyone who has neighbors knows how annoying it is to be constantly watched by them – after all, you want to be able to move freely in your personal oasis of calm without having to worry about being watched at every turn. A privacy screen in the garden is ideal for this, which is available in all common and well-stocked hardware stores in a wide variety of versions. You can also opt for a privacy screen in the form of a hedge, which has the disadvantage that it has to grow first. If you choose a wooden privacy screen, remember that it must be painted regularly, otherwise it will be damaged too quickly by the most varied weather conditions.
