Candied fruits, such as candied lemon peel, candied orange peel, or glacé cherries, are very popular in baking. They usually need to be chopped into small pieces. Unfortunately, this is often not so easy, as they have a habit of always sticking to the knife. Here we have a tip on how to prevent this from happening:
Candied fruits such as candied citron peel or candied orange peel are easier to cut
Freezer compartment
To make Candied citron, Glacé cherries or Candied orange peel so that they don't always stick to the knife when chopping, simply place the package in the Freezer compartment for a few minutes before using. This tip also works for dried figs.
Flour
To prevent everything from sticking, dust a little flour over them.
Sugar and blender
If the recipe calls for sugar, the amount of sugar can be mixed with the candied orange or lemon peel.
Alcohol
Candied orange or lemon peel no longer sticks due to alcohol. So, if you need alcohol in the recipe anyway, add it to the blender, and nothing will stick.
Soak with milk and puree
If you don't want large pieces in your cookies, you can soak the candied lemon or orange peel in a little milk overnight. Drain the milk the next day and mix everything with a hand blender.
