Indoor playgrounds are a good way to spend a nice day even in bad weather. The children can let off steam and the adults can, with a bit of luck, get some rest. We were also very curious about such an indoor playground, so we set off with our 20-month-old twins on a cold winter day to the indoor playground FamilyFun in the 22nd district in Vienna at Breitenleerstraße 77.
Below I will report to you how we got on and what, in my opinion, should definitely be considered:

My tips on equipment for visiting an indoor playground
Socks, crawling shoes and slippers
Definitely pack (anti-slip) socks or crawling shoes for yourself and the children, because socks are mandatory in the play areas. For adults, I would even recommend slippers, because I don't find it very comfortable to wear socks in the dining area, and constantly putting shoes on and off is very impractical. I put anti-slip socks on the children, which worked well.
Clothing
The clothing should not be too thick, because it is very warm in the hall and the children get even hotter from running around. The so-called onion look (layering) is best here for both big and small, so that you can always take off a layer if it gets too hot. In addition, the clothing should be comfortable so that the children are not restricted while running around. I dressed the children in long-sleeved bodysuits with a sweatshirt jacket; I took off their jeans and they ran around only in tights and anti-slip socks.
Storage of your belongings
There are many lockers available where you can store your things like shoes and jackets, but without a lock. A small padlock can be borrowed at the entrance, but those who own one can simply bring it along and save themselves from having to deposit an ID.
KiddyWorld for children up to 4 years
We were mainly in the KiddyWorld with our 20-month-old children. This is separated from the big children on the 1st floor. There are several areas here:
Separated Kiddy area
This part of KiddyWorld is equipped with a large safety door so that the children cannot simply run out. In several areas, the children can discover, play and try out many things:
Slide with ball pit
In this part we immediately tried out the ball pit with a small slide. Our children were skeptical at first, but when we let ourselves fall in too, they wanted to go in again and again and played nicely with the balls.
The caterpillar
Unfortunately, the caterpillar was too dark for our children and they didn't dare to go inside. It's actually really funny, as it houses a small slide inside that can be accessed from both sides. However, I think they will definitely explore it in some time.
Giant Lego bricks
The corner with the giant Lego bricks was also great for the children. They started building right away; there are bricks in different sizes, but the really big Lego bricks were the hit.
Climbing park for the little ones
There is also a climbing park here for the little ones, where ours climbed through very bravely. It was also funny for us, because we naturally had to climb along. It is a bit tight for adults every now and then, but no problem. Up to the Slide one has to overcome again and again Course, ramps climb up and crawl through tubes. Finally, it ends with a slide into a ball pit.
And much more
Here there is much more that the children can discover and try out, such as a small house, a tree house, many figures and seesaws, Swings, and skill games.
Toddler dining area
In addition, there is a separate area here, separated by a child-safe door with small chairs and tables where the children can eat, because eating is forbidden in the entire play facility for hygienic reasons, which I think is very good.
Everywhere here there are seating areas for the adults and the floor is covered with soft Carpet. Next to the area with the safety door are the toilets and the changing room.

On the 1st floor there are other fun stations such as:
WoodyWorld
In this part, children can sort wooden blocks of all sizes to their heart's content, or build works of art or, of course, destroy them.
Birthday rooms
Next to it are the rooms where children can celebrate birthdays. There are always offers here.
Water slides
At the other end of the 1st floor there is also a large inflated slide.
Jumping
Also at the other end of the 1st floor there is a large trampoline facility and a bouncy castle in the shape of a pirate ship.
Play area for children from 4 years
On the ground floor is the area for older children.
Wobble mountain
We liked the huge wobble mountain right away. It's not that easy to stand still here for long!
Climbing tower & go-kart track
The climbing tower is of course much larger and higher here. It consists of 4 floors with many climbing possibilities, obstacles that have to be overcome and 2 wave slides. Below it is a go-kart track with electrically operated karts.
Climbing wall
The climbing wall is also impressive. It is 10 m high and 4 children can climb up at the same time. It is secured by an automatic safety device and appropriate safety equipment. There is also a climbing wall for smaller children that is decorated with funny sea creatures.
XXXL slide
As parents, we would have loved to slide down that one ourselves! A very long inflatable slide with a separate ascent! Really huge. Unfortunately not for our kids yet, but surely soon.
Jumping
There is a lot to jump on here: for example, there are bouncy castles, a trampoline facility where 9 fields are available and 2 bungee trampolines, where children are strapped into jumping harnesses under supervision and can jump really high.
Fun Shooter
In this area, children can shoot around with soft balls. 7 softball cannons are distributed over 2 floors and in the middle is a small arena. At first we asked ourselves, well, who goes in there voluntarily – but then we saw, it's quite clear: anyone who needs ammunition has to go into the arena - great!
Soccer ball
There is also something for football fans: a large, separated playing field invites you to great matches.
Rodeo
There is a separate rodeo bull for the children. Under the supervision of the staff, the children can dare to take a ride.
And much more
Furthermore, there is free table football, Air Hockey, a Pedal car track, Labyrinth, and children's disco. In the Fashion Corner children can have their faces painted, or practice on large doll heads themselves.
Food service
Playing and running around so much naturally makes you hungry. It's practical that there is a self-service area and a restaurant with pizza and pasta available right in the facility. There are children's portions and alternating children's menus there.
Our experience in the indoor playground
We enjoyed the afternoon there very much and we want to come back. Since we were there during the week, it was nicely spread out and we could try everything without waiting times. The play facilities are all great and also super suitable for toddlers. Only the concrete steps to the 1st floor I felt were not so child-friendly.
In summary, I can say that we felt this indoor playground was a great adventure; there is so much to discover and play. It was a joy to see how our children ran from one area to the next and how they played with some things. We definitely want to come back, or who knows? Maybe we'll celebrate a birthday there too!
