Gift ideas - Baby cuddle blanket

A big event when a baby is born. Everyone wants to give something nice. I can still remember very well how I always enjoyed choosing something nice for friends and relatives for the birth. But of course, there are cases where you don't really know what to give, and that's why I would like to give a few suggestions here that brought me great joy as a mother:

Baby diary

Gift ideas - Baby diary

A really nice idea is to give a baby diary as a gift. Here you can enter a lot of data, make notes, and often stick in photos of important events. Even as a mother of twins, I managed to fill it nicely so far and also stick in photos. Even if there isn't room for everything, I have repeatedly made notes on the edges of the page because I felt some points were important. I think it's a wonderful memory that I want to pass on to my children. We received the baby book: "My first time – I actually know how much I am loved!" as a gift and I can only recommend it.

Where can I buy the book?

The book is available in bookstores and, for example, on Amazon:

baby clothing

Even though I received a lot on loan, it is great to receive a few bodysuits or rompers as a gift. It is something nice to have something of your own that you might even be able to pass on yourself. I was very happy about bodysuits and rompers. For me, sweaters and shirts were rather impractical; they look totally cute, but are often difficult to put on newborns. Often there are also starter sets for the baby, which include several color-coordinated pieces.

For those who have no idea about the sizes, here is a little help:

Baby size in cm Clothing size Age in months

Baby size in cm Clothing size Age in months
45-50 50 1
51-56 56 1-2
57-62 62 3-4
63-68 68 5-7
69-74 74 8-11
75-80 80 11-15
81-86 86 16-22

Where can I buy such a set?

Baby items are available in many clothing stores, such as H&M, C&A, etc. On Amazon, you can find entire sets:

Baby toys

At the beginning, the little ones don't need that much toys, but after a few months it becomes more and more interesting for babies, and it is great for parents if there is already some available that is actually accepted by the baby. Our children also received some toys as gifts, and there were things they loved immensely and some less so. Of course, all children are different, and it can never be said in advance whether they will like it, so I would like to give a small top ten list of our children's favorite toys as an example:

  1. Fabric rattle
  2. Crinkle flower
  3. Mr. Square book by Gobo
  4. Plush toys
  5. Plastic keys
  6. Maxi Cosi toy
  7. Rubber duck
  8. Fabric ball by Gobo
  9. Play mat with arch
  10. Mobile

1. Fabric rattle

Fabric rattle for babies

A fabric rattle for babies was our children's favorite toy from the beginning. Since it was made of fabric, the babies could not hurt themselves, the handle was narrow and they could hold it well very early on, and of course the 'hair' was great to look at. I was only "allowed" to sort out this fabric rattle very late.

Where can I find a fabric rattle?

You can find fabric rattles for babies in toy stores or on Amazon:

2. Crinkle flower

Baby toy crinkle flower

Crinkle toys for babies are also a great thing; they are usually soft, make great noises, and the babies cannot hurt themselves. Our son loved the crinkle flower. The colors, the noises, he always liked having it in his little fingers.

Where can I find crinkle toys?

Crinkle toys are available in toy stores or on Amazon:

3. Mr. Square book by Gobo

Mr. Square fabric book by Gobo

We ordered this book from Gobo. Gobo has a program with many great books and also toys that can be purchased according to age. You are always suggested a package that you can order or decline, so you don't miss anything and you don't have to buy everything. Our children – especially our daughter – liked this book from the beginning; it makes noises, has large pictures, and is completely soft, so she couldn't hurt herself.

4. Plush toys

Plush toy Winnie the Pooh for the baby

Of course, plush toys are great for babies; we also bought some and received some as gifts. The favorite plush toy of our children is and remains Winnie the Pooh for our daughter and Eeyore for our son – so far. Let's see what comes next.

Where can I find plush toys?

Stuffed animals are available in toy or furniture stores or on Amazon:

5. Key teething ring

Baby keys by Chicco

A key teething ring is also a great toy for the beginning. Our son in particular loved such a key. He loved shaking the key immensely and also biting on it. He often carried the key around in his little mouth like a dog.

Where can I find such a key teething ring?

You can find key teething rings in toy stores or on Amazon:

6. Maxi Cosi toy

Baby toy for Maxi Cosi

When we were on the go, we always hung a Maxi Cosi toy on the carrying handle of the Maxi Cosi. This way, our children always had something to play with in front of their eyes and were often occupied for a while.

Where can I buy a Maxi Cosi toy?

We found our Maxi Cosi toy in a furniture store, but it is also available on Amazon:

7. Rubber duck

Rubber duck for the baby

Rubber ducks should not be missing in any baby bathtub. We have one made of particularly soft natural latex, which our children liked very much.

Where can I find rubber ducks?

Rubber ducks are available in toy stores or often at discounters such as Hofer, Zielpunkt, or on Amazon:

8. Fabric ball by Gobo

Fabric ball by Gobo for babies

The ball was also brilliant for our small children. This is also from the series by Gobo and has practical handles on the edge so that the babies could hold it well in their hands. It was also completely soft, so they couldn't hurt themselves with it. Of course in many bright colors, and with a friendly face.

9. Play mat with arch

As soon as our children could grasp, this play arch became a must. They liked playing with the things hanging down. This play arch from Ikea was very practical for me because it was washable.

Where can I find a play arch?

Play arches are available in furniture stores or on Amazon:

10. Mobile

Mobile for babies

We hung our gifted mobile over the changing table and it really served us well. The children were nicely distracted by it and you could change them great. Unfortunately, it naturally becomes less interesting the older the child gets and we are looking for new distractions – here I am very grateful for tips ?

Where can I find a mobile?

In many furniture stores there is a mobile or on Amazon:

Diaper Cake

Gift idea - 3-tier diaper cake

That was also a great gift, because diapers go away like nothing, especially with twins. Usually, these ready-made diaper cakes also contain care products or accessories. But I have also seen them with stuffed animals.

There are different sizes and of course many variations in price. We had shampoo, bath additive, and wound protection cream included.

Anyone who wants to can also make these themselves. The advantage is that you can choose the additives yourself. You can find the instructions here: Make a 3-tier diaper cake yourself

Where can I buy diaper cakes?

You can buy these ready-made diaper cakes in drugstores or also in grocery stores (e.g., Eurospar), but there are also many providers on the Internet, such as on Amazon:

Baby blanket

Gift ideas - Baby cuddle blanket

A baby blanket is also a very good gift; we received 4 as gifts and were really happy about it, because at the beginning you need a lot of blankets and they are still in use. For those who don't find that original enough, you can give blankets where the date of birth and name can be woven in. These are then great unique blankets.

Where can I buy baby blankets?

Available in furniture stores, clothing stores, and also, for example, on Amazon:

Gift sets

Anyone who doesn't want to think too much can also opt for a gift set. Here there are already many practically put-together packages, such as a bath set. This package can include a very practical hooded towel, as well as a bath thermometer, baby brush, and baby nail scissors. All things that you often need as parents.

Where can I find such sets?

I found 2 practical sets on the Internet at, for example, presents4friends:

or of course also on Amazon: Bath set

Impression kits

Impression kits for babies provide wonderful memories. They are a really great gift for new parents. With such a kit, you can immortalize the little feet or hands very quickly.

Where can I find an impression kit for babies?

You can buy these kits, for example, on Amazon:

The diaper changing belt

The diaper-changing belt for expectant dads

A practical and also funny idea for a new dad is the diaper changing belt. This is already available as a ready-made set on the Internet, or you can put it together yourself. That is not so difficult and done quite quickly. I have instructions for that here for you:

Instructions for designing a diaper changing belt yourself: Gift for Dad – The diaper-changing belt

Babysitting vouchers

Anyone who can't think of anything or doesn't get around to shopping can also bring great joy to the parents by giving them a voucher for babysitting. It doesn't have to be the whole night, but maybe at lunchtime so that the new parents can go out for a really nice meal. Anyone who doesn't trust themselves with so much can also offer a walk with the stroller so that the mother can rest a little. I have always gladly accepted these offers and was hugely happy!

Caution: If special things are to be bought, consultation with the parents should always be held, because if everyone gives the same thing, or the parents have already bought it themselves, it is not so great.

These are my personal top gifts for expectant parents. I would be very happy if other gift ideas come together, simply leave them here via comment.
