See – Marvel – Understand: under this motto, visitors can experience the "crazy laboratory". Things that we take for granted in everyday life are presented here in a simple way for young and old.

Experimenta – the crazy laboratory on Fehmarn

The special feature: the experiments are naturally intended for everyone to touch – because trying is better than studying. At the same time, the wide range of experiments in the fields of mechanics, acoustics, optics, mathematics and much more not only encourages hands-on interaction – practical learning triggers the so-called "aha moment" in many children, but also in adults and seniors. But what exactly does Experimenta offer me?

  • 1000m² of experimental space in a historic harbor shed
  • Numerous experiments that encourage young and old to participate
  • 3D films as well as numerous 3D images
  • Gallery of holographs
  • The game with the hot wire
  • Can ships run on water power?
  • How does solar technology work?
  • Look through the "mirror of truth"
  • Let your shadow freeze
  • Stand inside a giant soap bubble
  • Experience optical illusions and illogical mathematics and much more...

But it is by no means possible to list all the possibilities and experiments – only those who want to explore physics and natural sciences themselves will be able to satisfy their curiosity at Experimenta.nen.

Special highlight: every hour on the hour, a high-voltage demonstration is performed, in which a lightning bolt is simulated with 500,000 volts.Caution: this presentation is quite loud, therefore the demonstration is generally recommended for children aged 5 and over.
