A family excursion doesn't always have to take place on land – you can also combine fun, fresh air, and plenty of adventure with the sea. After all, if you are traveling to the coast, you should make the most of the opportunities there. Whether for young or old, for children or adults – there are many opportunities on the beach and in the water to spend the day.
Kite-Surfing
Kite-surfing has become increasingly popular in recent years, and from afar, you can watch numerous kite-surfers on the beaches of Fehmarn, gracefully and elegantly steering their kites. But what exactly does this sport offer my family? Is kite-surfing suitable for children? And what do you need for this sport?
The fun of kite-surfing
With a board and a special wind kite, you can glide across the sea with the help of sufficient wind and a little skill. Kite-surfing is particularly popular because, unlike windsurfing or other comparable sports, it is easier to learn. With a growing fan base, the equipment has also become more complex and safer, which in turn has made the sport possible for children as well.
Equipment
In addition to the kite board, you need
- A wind kite
- Control and safety lines
- A harness, which provides the balance between the kite, board, and athlete
- A board leash, which is attached to the athlete's ankle as a line connection and prevents the board from drifting away
- A helmet
- A wetsuit
- A protective vest
- Shoes
- Sunglasses

An island with sea as far as the eye can see: who doesn't think of sailing? In optimal weather conditions, you can see countless sails in the bays of Fehmarn, drifting quietly and peacefully on the water. But is sailing also a suitable leisure tip for the whole family?
In special sailing schools on Fehmarn, even the youngest family members are trained to become proud sailors – fun for both big and small sailing fans. As a rule, children should be 7 years old to be able to attend training courses. In addition to the boat, various required materials are provided and included in the course fee.
