At Easter, we were invited to friends' house and their daughter made a really good cake. The name says it all: 'Friss-Dich-Dumm-Kuchen' (Eat-Yourself-Stupid Cake). And that's exactly what happened (unfortunately), I ate 2 pieces. You absolutely have to try it, here is the recipe:

Preparation

  1. First, the cake is prepared.

  2. For this, take a bowl and mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.

  3. Add the egg and the cold butter in pieces and knead everything by hand into a smooth dough.

  4. If you have one, you can also do this with a dough hook in a stand mixer.

  5. Wrap the dough in cling film and place it in the bowl in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  6. Now the cake will be baked: Preheat the oven to 180° C top and bottom heat.

  7. Roll the dough out on parchment paper and place it, with the parchment paper, on a baking sheet.

  8. Prick the shortcrust pastry several times with a fork.

  9. Bake the cake in the oven at 180° C top and bottom heat for about 15 minutes.

  10. While the cake cools, the pudding mixture is prepared.

  11. In a pot, bring the milk, sugar, vanilla paste and pudding powder to the boil with a whisk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens like a pudding.

  12. Let the pudding cool slightly and stir it repeatedly so that no skin forms.

  13. Now whisk the room-temperature butter into the lukewarm pudding.

  14. Spread the pudding mixture over the shortcrust pastry with a spatula.

  15. The walnuts are caramelized as a topping.

  16. For this, melt the butter, salt and sugar in a pan.

  17. Add the walnuts and let them lightly caramelize over medium heat.

  18. Evenly spread the caramelized walnuts over the pudding topping and let everything cool.

  19. Finally add the chocolate glaze.

  20. For this, chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt it in a water bath.

  21. Drizzle the liquid chocolate in stripes over the cake with a spoon.
