Recipe for a pirate cake

Ingredients

• any chocolate cake (e.g.: Quick mug cake)
• dark chocolate couverture (e.g. from Manner)
• wafer rolls
• chocolate bars
• Gummy bears
• cola gummy laces (e.g. from Hitschler)
• Smarties
• Various gummy things (gummy animals, cola bottles, sour gummy ropes, etc.)
• 1 Chinese chopstick
• 1 wooden skewer
• paper (for the sails)
• 1 toothpick
• Scissors
• pens
• Adhesive
• Tixo

Preparation

1. We decided on a Quick mug cake.

2. We baked this in a loaf pan 30 cm long.

3. After cooling, I trimmed the cake into the shape of a ship.

4. That means I cut off two slanted pieces at the front so that it forms a triangle.

5. I then trimmed the cut-off pieces and assembled them so they form a small rectangle for the pirate ship's cabin.

6. Now melt the chocolate coating and pour it over the cake, spreading it well.

7. Let everything dry a little - but not completely, otherwise the decoration won't stick as well.

8. Mark made cannons out of the wafer rolls and stuck them into the hull of the ship.

9. Chocolate bars serve as the ship's parapet, laid lengthwise on the cake.

10. Smarties & Gummi Balla-Balla's serve as windows; gummy bears, fitted with thin rubber bands as eye patches, come aboard.

11. As a figurehead we took a gummy animal, skewered it on a toothpick and stuck it into the very front tip of the ship.

12. From white paper we cut out two sails, one larger, the other smaller.

13. The larger was skewered onto the Chinese chopstick and the smaller onto the thinner wooden skewer.

14. For the skull and crossbones you can either print a suitable image from the Internet, or sketch it on white paper and cut it out.

15. We drew ours ourselves.

16. Now cut out a small rectangle, paint it black, and glue the cut-out skull with the bones onto it.

17. We stuck the pirate flag onto the large sail with Tixo.
