Hamburg bacon salad

The Hamburg bacon salad is traditionally eaten lukewarm. Hard-boiled eggs are the best side dish for this. Depending on your taste, you can add fatty bacon or just lean ham to the salad.

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. The Hamburger Specksalat consists largely of potatoes. For this, the potatoes are cooked in their skins in a sufficiently large pot of water until they are potatoes boiled in their skins. After cooking, drain the potatoes and fill the pot with cold water. After a quarter of an hour you can remove the potatoes from the water – they are now easier to peel and no longer scalding hot.

  2. In the meantime, peel a large onion and cut it into fine cubes. The ham is also diced and fried golden brown in a pan with sufficient oil along with the onion.

  3. Meanwhile, prepare a vinegar-oil marinade in a salad bowl. To do this, mix the vinegar with the water, then add the spices and season with oil. Add the peeled and sliced potatoes to this marinade and let them soak well. Once the onions and ham are crispy, add the entire contents of the pan, including the oil, to the potatoes. Then stir everything thoroughly. The Hamburg bacon salad can now be served with the prepared eggs.

  4. In fact, it tastes best lukewarm and is particularly recommended in the hot summer time when you don't want to cook much or eat anything too hot.
