For our carnival party, my dear friend Carina brought something chocolatey – chocolate is a must for the kids. These brownies are easy to make and can be decorated so wonderfully. They look great, don't they?

Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) with top and bottom heat.
Whisk the eggs with the sugar until frothy.
Melt the chocolate; you can either do this quickly in the microwave, or over a double boiler.
To do this, place 2 pots one on top of the other on the stove, fill the lower pot with water and heat.
Stir frequently until the chocolate melts.
Add the lukewarm melted chocolate to the egg-sugar mixture and mix well.
Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt and fold into the egg mixture.
Grease the baking pan with a little butter, pour in the batter, smooth the top and bake in a conventional oven (top and bottom heat) at 180° C for about 20 - 30 minutes.
Check with the toothpick test to see if the cake is fully baked.
Let the brownies cool.
To do this, melt the chocolate, spread it over the brownies and decorate as you like.
Tips & Notes
I bought a melting pot; it is great for melting chocolate.
