Schwedenbomben cake

A Schwedenbomben cake was the next project my daughter and I had picked out. For her birthday party, it was supposed to be this kind of cake, in pink of course. After doing some research, we had our recipe for our Schwedenbomben cake.

As I said, you have to work quickly here so that everything works out well. The decorations stick very well to the dried Candy Melts. As for the taste, I was surprised: the Candy Melts have a pleasant, chocolatey, vanilla flavor. That went very well with the quark vanilla cake.

Extra tip: At a children’s birthday party, make sure that every child can get a Schwedenbombe. It’s best to keep the opened package ready. From experience, this could lead to discussions ?

Have you tried a cake like this too? I’d be happy to receive photos and suggestions for the instructions!

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. We decided on a quark-vanilla cake.

  2. We used a 26 cm cake ring.

  3. However, for this cake we changed things slightly: we added the white chocolate beneath the entire filling.

  4. Now place a cake ring around the cake and spread the entire amount of filling over the bottom cake layer.

  5. Now place the second cake layer on top and let it set in the refrigerator for about 3–4 hours.

  6. In the meantime, the Schwedenbomben can be decorated.

  7. For this, mix a glaze of powdered sugar and lemon juice and use it to paint the 'hair' on the top of the Schwedenbombe with a brush.

  8. Now dip the Schwedenbomben into a bowl of sugar pearls.

  9. Let it dry thoroughly.

  10. For the face, we melted some couverture and filled it into a disposable piping syringe.

  11. Now you can paint a mouth and eyes as desired.

  12. Also let that dry thoroughly.

  13. Finally, we stuck the mini paper umbrellas into the Schwedenbomben.

  14. Now we move on to glazing the cake; it should shine in a pink gloss.

  15. For this, melt the Candy Melts.

  16. Before you melt it, get everything within reach: the cake and the decorations, because you have to work quickly, as the Candy Melts sauce hardens very fast.

  17. I melted the Candy Melts in the microwave; you can also do it in a water bath.

  18. Spread the melted Candy Melt sauce onto the cake, preferably with an offset spatula.

  19. Start with the top surface and then the edge.

  20. Immediately press the sugar pearls onto the edge.

  21. To do this, hold the pearls in your hand and press them onto the edge as you open your hand (and yes, some will miss!).

  22. Then place the white sugar flowers only on the top of the cake.

  23. Finally place the decorated Schwedenbomben on the cake.
