My mom loved onion soup so much; she always ordered it at restaurants, never made it herself. Now I wanted to try it myself and tried this recipe; we enjoyed it:
Onion soup recipe
Extra tip:If you have oven-safe bowls, pour the soup into them, place the toast with cheese into the soup, and let the whole thing finish baking in the oven.

Preparation
Peel the onions and chop them finely.
Melt the butter in a pot and sauté the onions in it for a few minutes.
Then dust with the flour and pour in the soup.
Let simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Enrich the soup with the wine and remove from the heat.
Preheat the oven to 100°C (212°F) top and bottom heat.
Toast the slices of bread in the toaster and then place the toast on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Place the cheese slices on the toast and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes (the cheese should be nicely melted).
Ladle the soup into attractive soup plates or bowls and add the cheese-topped toast to them.
Serve immediately.
Tips & Notes
If available, put the soup into ovenproof bowls, place the toast with cheese into the soup, and finish baking the whole thing in the oven.
