Baking gingerbread-flavored cookies just before Christmas? Yes, it's possible! With this last-minute cookie recipe, you can conjure up some great cookies even right before Christmas. Here is the recipe:

Preparation
Cream the butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy, then stir in the egg, the gingerbread spice, the cocoa and the hazelnuts.
Finally add the flour and knead into a smooth dough.
Wrap the dough in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 175 °C (top and bottom heat) and line the baking sheets with baking paper.
Roll the dough out 3-4 mm thin on a floured work surface and cut out stars (of course any shapes can be used).
Place the stars on the baking sheet and bake in the oven at 175 °C for about 8 minutes.
Once the cookies have cooled, you can decorate them as you like.
Chop the candied orange peel or candied lemon peel finely.
For the lemon icing, mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice and kirsch (if children are eating, simply use water) into a smooth glaze.
Coat the spice stars with the glaze and decorate as desired with nuts or candied lemon/candied orange peel.
